Brian Carwile, Founder & Chairman 

Brian Carwile, Chairman of the Board, is the founder of Orchid Medical. He transitioned to his current position from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2019.  Since the company’s inception, Carwile has led the strategic vision and direction of Orchid; growing it from a durable medical equipment and supplies company to a leading, comprehensive ancillary and surgical cost containment company within the workers’ compensation industry. Prior to founding Orchid, Carwile began a medical career in 1991 as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and served as an athletic trainer while attending the University of Florida. Carwile is a recognized thought leader on innovative medical products and ancillary services as well as a frequent industry speaker. Carwile earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College.

Paul Taylor, Chief Executive Officer

Paul Taylor was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2019. Taylor previously served as Orchid’s COO for more than 12 years, providing executive leadership for the company’s business operations including finance, business development, client services, implementation, marketing, compliance, information technology and human resources. He is a workers’ compensation industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in executive management positions. Prior to joining Orchid, Taylor founded a workers’ compensation surveillance and investigations company, The Intel Group/Hyperion Risk and served as the executive vice president until it was purchased in 2006. Originally from Northern Ireland, Taylor is a decorated police officer who has served within the ranks of the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC. Taylor attended Belfast Technical College in Northern Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1992.

David Anderson, Chief Operating Officer

David Anderson was promoted to COO in 2019. Anderson joined Orchid in 2007 as the Vice President of Operations. Throughout his tenure as vice president, he led Orchid’s commitment to operational excellence by leveraging the company’s proprietary technology to develop a unique client experience, tailored to client-specific needs.  Prior to Orchid, Anderson held the position of Vice President of Operations and Special Investigations at Hyperion Risk and Global Options. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University. Additionally, he holds an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification through RESNA. Anderson’s deep knowledge in workers’ compensation patient care and medical services cost containment has allowed him to speak across the nation on topics ranging from myoelectric prosthetics, complex rehabilitation equipment and surgical implants.

Monica Patel, SHRM-CP, Vice President, Human Resources and Talent Acquisitions

Monica Patel joined Orchid in 2012 and serves as Vice President of Human Resources and Talent Acquisitions. Prior to her current position, she served as Director of Human Resources and held the roles of finance and sales coordinator and executive assistant which allowed her to gain valuable insight to Orchid’s business model and culture. Patel is responsible for working with Orchid’s management team in defining and implementing recruiting efforts, training, performance management, policy, compliance, benefits, and compensation. Patel became certified by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2017. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Allied Health Sciences and Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida and completed her MBA degree at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.

Rafael Padrón, CPA, CFE, Chief Financial Officer

Rafael Padrón joined Orchid in 2017 as the company’s controller and in 2019 he was promoted to chief financial officer (CFO). As the CFO, Padrón is responsible for managing the company’s administrative, financial and risk management operations. Prior to joining Orchid, Padrón was a member of a global accounting team for a Fortune 15 company.  Padrón began his career specializing in forensic accounting services and providing economic damage measurements for entities across the globe. Padrón holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Accounting degree from Nova Southeastern University. Padrón is a Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Padrón is also a member of the the Board of Directors of the Family Promise of Greater Orlando. Padrón serves the Orlando community in a variety of ways as a Young Adults Connections Leader, Small Group Leader and volunteer at Discovery Church as well as a wish granter for Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida.

Timothy Howlin, Chief Sales Officer 

Timothy Howlin is the newest addition to the Orchid team, joining us as the Chief Sales Officer (CSO). As the CSO, Howlin will lead Orchid’s go-to-market strategy as well as the sales, client services and marketing teams in support of the company’s growth initiatives. Howlin has more than 25 years of experience in the workers’ compensation industry with extensive business development experience and an impressive record of sustained topline revenue growth. He most recently served as chief sales officer for Rising Medical Solutions, where he notably transformed the company’s sales, account management and marketing teams in achieving significant new business growth and retention of existing clients. Prior to that role, he served as senior vice president of national sales for Optum, a division of United Healthcare Group. Howlin is a graduate of Molloy College in New York.

Kellie Jackson, Vice President, Marketing  

Kellie Jackson joined Orchid in 2016 as the Director of Marketing and was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in August of 2019. Jackson is responsible for the strategic direction and execution of Orchid’s marketing and communications efforts. In 2016, she successfully led a comprehensive rebrand of Orchid to further position the company as a leader in delivering ancillary services within the workers’ compensation market. Prior to joining Orchid, Jackson spent over ten years in marketing management positions servicing pharmacy benefit management, ancillary medical services and managed care product lines at Cypress Care, Healthcare Solutions and Optum. With 15 years of B2B marketing experience in the workers’ compensation industry, Jackson brings a wealth of knowledge in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns, brand development and public relations. Jackson holds a Bachelors in Marketing and a Masters of Business Administration from Brenau University.

Oliver Ostlander, Chief Information Officer

Oliver Ostlander joined Orchid in 2011 as the Chief Information Officer, (CIO). As the CIO, Ostlander is responsible for guiding the company’s technological strategy and product development. Prior to joining Orchid, Ostlander served as the Vice President of EK Health Services and the Executive Director of Operations at Coventry Health Care where he helped support over $700 million in annual revenues.  Ostlander has over 15 years of experience in the workers’ compensation industry which includes extensive product intelligence development as well as business and operational system improvements.  Ostlander attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and majored in Business Administration.

Yesenia Ortiz, Vice President, Program Operations 

Yesenia started with us in November 2013 as a DME Care Coordinator and within two years she was promoted to a Complex Care Coordinator. In 2019, she was promoted to her current role as Vice President of Program Operations. Ortiz is responsible for leading the expansion of operations of the Ancillary Benefits Management (ABM) program. Prior to joining Orchid, Ortiz served as a Patient Access intern at the Florida Hospital and the Membership coordinator for the YMCA of Central Florida. Ortiz holds a B.S. of Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida.


David Bedard, ATP, CHAMPS, Senior Vice President, Operations 

Bedard joined Orchid in July 2014 as part of our Complex Care team. In 2017, Bedard began assisting with management of Orchid’s Operations Team and led the daily functions of  Orchid’s Complex Care team. In 2019, Bedard transitioned to his current role of Senior Vice President of Operations. For the past 33 years, David Bedard has held various positions in the workers’ compensation industry.  His areas of experience include: DME, Complex Rehab Equipment and Home Health with a specialization in spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury (TBI) & Pediatrics. Bedard is also a certified custom compression garment and OTC orthotics fitter. Bedard received his Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.) certification in 1992, his Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification in 2002 and his Certified Home Assessment and Modification Professional (C.H.A.M.P) certification in 2017. With this impressive range of certifications, experiences and skills, Bedard speaks across the nation on topics ranging from myoelectric prosthetics, complex rehabilitation equipment and surgical implants

Jason Bliss, Senior Vice President, Business Development

Jason Bliss, Senior Vice President of Business Development, has been with Orchid since 2008. Bliss is responsible for the strategic planning of building and retaining customer partnerships, expanding the utilization of the company’s services within accounts and leading the client services team in ensuring clients’ expectations are met. With 15 years of sales and marketing experience within the workers’ compensation industry, Bliss has held regional account managerial positions with Cypress Care and Omega Insurance Services. Bliss holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Sports Management from Florida State University.


Kelly Noonan, Vice President, Business Development

Kelly Noonan, Vice President of Business Development, joined Orchid in 2019. She is a driven sales and account management professional with an exceptional record of delivering revenue growth and implementing strategic business initiatives. Noonan is responsible for building and retaining client partnerships and securing new sales in the Midwest as well as working with our client services team to exceed client expectations. Noonan brings over 25 years of workers’ compensation experience to the table. Prior to joining Orchid, Noonan served as Senior Regional Sales Manager with myMatrixx, an industry-leading pharmacy benefits manager and held the title of Regional Account Manager with both Universal SmartComp (USC), a former physical medicine network and Medical Services Company (MSC) a former ancillary services company within the workers’ compensation industry. Throughout her career in the workers’ compensation industry, she has gained extensive product knowledge in durable medical equipment (DME), home health, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy services. Noonan is a graduate of Framingham State College.

Stephen Ellerman, Vice President, Provider Relations

Stephen Ellerman joined Orchid in 2018 as the Vice President of Provider Relations. Ellerman is responsible for the strategic oversight and development of the company’s network of provider partners for durable medical equipment, home health, diagnostic imaging, physical medicine and transportation and language services. As a workers’ compensation industry veteran, Ellerman brings over 25 years of experience in the development and management of national ancillary networks. For 20 years as vice president of provider development for One Call Care Management, Ellerman successfully led the company’s contracting, credentialing and servicing efforts for the diagnostics network division. Prior to joining Orchid, Ellerman served as vice president of network operations at Atlantic Imaging Group where he directed provider network development, call center operations and sales activities of a national diagnostic testing network. In addition, Ellerman has held senior management positions in the broader health care industry at medical centers and hospitals. Ellerman received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from New Jersey City University.

Brandon Olson, Director, Business Development 

Brandon Olson joined Orchid in 2016 as Director of Business Development. Olson is charged with retaining and growing the company’s client base nationally with a strong focus in the western region. Olson has a proven track record of establishing client relationships and providing customer-focused solutions. He has over 15 years of experience in providing client training, consulting, implementation of new programs and client development responsibilities in insurance services. Prior to joining Orchid, Olson served as assistant vice president and senior regional account manager at G4S in Compliance and Investigations. During his 11 year tenure at G4S, he was responsible for new business development and account management in the western territory and international division. Olson holds a BFA from Radford University. Olson is a multiple award winner for his sales and account management talents.
