It’s American Heart month! Each February, the American Heart Association sponsors this national month of awareness for heart disease and methods for maintaining our heart health. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States, with an average of one person dying every 37 seconds, according to the Center for Disease Control. Here at Orchid, we put our health before all else and we believe that taking care of your health and well-being can be a team building experience!
To observe this month of awareness and foster some friendly competition, Orchid is participating in a month long “step challenge” where employees formed teams of four to five people, driven to achieve a certain number of steps per day. Each week, our Orchid step captain tallies up the average of each team to add to their overall score. We’ve seen some pretty tough competition so far from teams with names such as ‘Cirque de Sore Legs’, ‘Game of Soles’ and ‘Holy Walkamolies’. At the end of the month, one team will take the title of the Orchid 70k Stepper and a mystery grand prize!
Orchid also participated in the national “Wear Red Day” to raise public awareness for cardiovascular disease. Check out some pictures below!
