ORLANDO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Orchid Medical, a nationwide ancillary healthcare service company specializing in workers’ compensation, announced today that the company has completed a SOC 1, also called a Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) Type I examination.
Orchid Medical will be among the workers’ compensation industry services companies attending NCCI’s Annual Issues Symposium (AIS) 2015 in Orlando May 14-15.
The SOC 1 audit, presented in the Service’s Auditor’s Report by Kyle H. Kelley CPA of Altamonte Springs, provides a detailed description of Orchid Medical’s internal operating procedures and controls. It is an independent assessment confirming that proper controls are in place and appropriate for Orchid Medical to serve the workers’ compensation industry with excellence.
“Receiving this independent audit shows that our company meets the high standards for properly managing the services entrusted in us by our customers,” said Brian Carwile, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Orchid Medical. (Photo link)
“It demonstrates that our business is conducted in an environment committed to excellence,” he said, adding that “Orchid Medical has been shown to possess the proper internal financial and operational processes and controls to provide customers with a high level of service in areas that include, but are not limited to, claims processing, IT, data storage and security, organizational structure, employee screening, hiring and training.”
The audit further shows that Orchid Medical’s internal processes are designed, implemented, monitored and have ongoing risk assessments designed to effectively and efficiently carry out the claims process in an accurate and timely manner.
The SSAE 16 Type 1 audit evaluates the design effectiveness of a service provider’s controls and then confirms that the controls have been placed in operation as of a specific date, which in Orchid Medical’s case is as of December 31, 2014.
“As a workers’ compensation services company that uses a high level of technology and deals with confidential records, validation that we have secure processes in place should give our customers a great deal of confidence,” Carwile said.
